We're here!

Now, I'm not going to keep this up... writing so often on the blog.. but this is a momentous occasion. We survived 22 hours on 2 planes and have finally arrived in New Zealand! Meg and Hayley picked us up at the airport and took us to their lovely house where we met the adorable Grace (doggy). Meg, Hayley and Grace have been the hostesses with the mostess so far - thanks ladies! We were hard-core yesterday... with extreme jet-lag we managed to go to see some bands play in the park near Auckland Uni. I even managed 3 (teeny) beers. We could no longer form sentences when were invited for a curry (yes, I was too tired for a curry) and we ended up in bed, dead to the world, by 8pm. 4am saw us wide awake eating toast and drinking tea... then back to sleep the sleep of all sleeps. Today is the first day in ages I haven't woken up thinking "I must do this, and this, and this..." Am so proud of myself for finally taking the plunge. This next year is going to be great, I just have a feeling!
My sympathy goes out to all of you back home who will be waking up to Monday morning at work. Sorry guys!

A shell of my former self...

No photo this time, as it would be too scary!

Only just got home after the most tiring week of my life! Last Monday was spent packing the magic porridge pot of flats (it was never ending). At around 10pm on Monday night it looked like we were ages from finishing and I just sat and cried. Tuesday saw us realising that the van was too small - so Pete drove the van and I drove the car and we went to Nottingham and then Middlesbrough.. lugging heavy boxes into lofts at each house (well, Pete and his family lugged them in Nottingham as I was still on the M1) and cursing all possessions. Wednesday saw us drive back down to Brighton absolutely knackered. Thursday was Pete's day from hell as it involved cleaning - not my best day either as I got to do the oven. Friday... well, we were still cleaning in the morning... we finally packed the car (again) by about 12 at which point we still had to go into town to return library books, pick up wedding presents, get car tax, sort redirection and get some stuff for the weekend. I lost ANOTHER bit of tooth at lunch, which really topped my day off. Tears were shed as we left Brighton at 4pm on Friday... then we drove to Newquay (where we were going to a wedding). We arrived as mere shells of our former selves.. Pete managed to get to the pub to see his mates.. I opted for a bed and bath. Then we had the wedding on Saturday (congratulations Dave and Claire) so we had to drink lots (rude not to, really). Yesterday we had a well deserved slob. And today we've driven 450 miles... I arrived home about half an hour ago!!!

The flight on Friday will feel like a rest! 24 hours of watching films, eating airline food and guzzling bloody Marys!!!

The end of an era...

Today is my last day at KC. It feels totally weird. This week I've said goodbye to so many people (thanks for the presents everyone, that was so sweet - I was really touched). 2 weeks today I will be on a plane. My life is going to totally change... Now for one last Trafalgar baguette from Toast near work. One last natter with the girls at lunchtime (going to miss you guys). One last piss-up with the gang from KC at the Grand Central after work (no tequila, yuk!). It's been good. Brighton is fab. You're all lovely. Thanks for this award...
